On the Track: 4x800 Relay (2nd10:17.27): Coming into districts the relay was ranked 3rdbehind ECC and Kane. The girls were motivated to get one of the top 2 spots to advance to the state meet. Kate did a great job of getting the team in the lead on the first leg, running her fastest split of the season(2:28). Elyse came through with her fastest split of the season holding the lead through the second leg. Alyse also came through with a seasonal best split on the third leg but was passed in the final 100 meters by ECC’s top 800 runner. Olivia finished off the relay locking in the 2ndplace position with a solid split less than 2 seconds off of her all-time best. I am really proud of how hard these 4 girls have worked to get to this point. 400: Kate(1st1:01.84) ran a great race following her all-time best relay split in the 4x800. She got out fast and took the lead just past 200 mark. She had some good competition in Dubots (Coudersport) and Cobaugh (Johnsonburg) that pushed her to a seasonal best. It’s really nice to see her come away with her 2nddistrict title in the 400. 800: Kate (7th2:37.56) and Alyse (2:52.17) Coming off of short rest from the 400 Kate stayed competitive and really gave it her best to try for a podium finish, just missing by one place. 100 hurdles: Makena(3rd17:43) and Katelynn(14th19.41) both ran personal best times in the preliminaries. Makena advanced to the finals and came back from pole vaulting to run a strong finish edging out Newton from ECC for 3rdplace overall. 1600: Olivia (5th5:49.37) ran within 3 seconds of her all-time best. She came back from a great anchor leg in the relay to stay competitive with the field. She was the top freshman finisher of a field that consisted of mostly seniors. 4x400 Relay (9th4:37.79) The girls all gave their best after a long day of events, even though they didn’t come away with their best time their efforts were visible. High Jump: Leah (2nd5-4) surpassed her all-time best while also clearing the automatic state qualifying height, while also matching the Brookville’s facility record. She did a nice job of bringing her best and making some tough competition for Newton (ECC). Cassidy (8th4-8) stayed consistent with her marks from throughout the season but just missed reaching her best today. She had a great season and will look to come back next year to keep improving. Long Jump: Leah (14th14-7.25) just missed her seasonal best mark but did a fine job competing in all three jumps. Triple Jump: Sammy (4th34-2.5) and Leah (9th32-5) had some solid marks at the triple jump with Sammy hitting her all-time best outdoor mark. Pole Vault: Makena (6th8-6) has been consistent right around 8-6 to 9-0 all year long. She had nice clearance at 8-6 and just narrowly missed out on 9-0. Shot Put: Sammy (3rd37-1.5), Taegan (11th31-6.5) and Mackenzie (14th29-2.5) each had solid throws on the day. Taegan had her best all-time throw by 1.5 inches. Discus: Sammy (2nd130-4) and Shawnelle (19th70-0). Sammy had a great throw in the discus and had another throw just beyond 130’, which puts her among the top in the state. Even though Shawnelle didn’t throw her best today she has been a great leader in the field and has had a great senior season. Javelin: Taegan (15th97-4) threw for another mark close to 100’. She is doing a fine job for a sophomore. We were very pleased with the performances the girls had. Last year we placed 6thout of 25 teams, so to be able to move up to 3rdoverall this year was a nice improvement. Now our focus is on getting Sammy, Leah, Kate and the 4x800 relay team mentally prepared to bring their best next weekend at Shippensburg.

District 9 AA Championships Preview
-25 teams competing -the top six individual athletes and relays account in the team scoring -the top two individuals and relays advancing to the state championships held on -the 25thand 26that Shippensburg University With this years AA district meet being combined with the AAA district meet on the same day our standards for each event got quite a bit more difficult limiting the number of entrants per event. I really feel the girls we have entered truly earned their opportunity to compete on Friday and it will prove to be some tough competition in each event. We have a total of 9 events where relay teams or individuals are seeded in the top six. It is our goal to put everyone in the events they will have the most success. The top teams look to be Elk County Catholic and Brookville (returning team champion). Coming in we are ranked 6thas a team, however I feel like we can improve on our seeding in several events. I am really hoping we can advance some girls to the state meet in Shippensburg. Sammy Dyson has the top seed in the discus (136-10), a 4thseed in the shot put (39-7) and a 12thseed in the triple jump (32-9.75). In both the discus and shot put the fields are extremely strong with 6 girls in the shot put and 7 girls in the discus coming in with state qualifying marks. Sammy won both the shot and discus two years ago in district 9 AAA and last year advanced to the state meet in both the discus and shot put placing 1stand 3rdrespectively at districts. Kate Horner holds Punxsy’s other top seed in the 400 (62.54), a 3rdseed in the 800 (2:30.74), while also being a part of the 3rdseed 4x800 relay team (10:22.52) and the 9thseed 4x400 relay team (4:30.82). Kate is the returning district champion in the 400 and has been running much stronger than a year ago. She has a big day ahead of her but I know she is up for the challenge. Olivia Roberts is a 4thseed in the 1600 (5:46.86), a 9thseed in the 800 (2:34.84), and part of the 3rdseed 4x800 relay team (10:22.52) and the 9thseed 4x400 relay team (4:30.82). Olivia has had a fantastic freshman campaign so far this season. Alyse Whitman is an 11thseed in the 800 (2:36.24), while also a part of the 3rdseed 4x800 relay team (10:22.52) and 9thseed 4x400 relay team (4:30.82). Alyse has ran solid relay legs in her sophomore and junior seasons at districts while also reaching the podium in the 800 with a 2ndplace finish her sophomore year and a 6th place finish her junior year. Elyse Whitman is part of the 3rdseed 4x800 relay team (10:22.52) and the 9thseed 4x400 relay team (4:30.82). Elyse ran both relays last season and has ran some much faster relay legs in our recent invitationals. Makena Nesbitt is a 5thseed in the 100 hurdles (17.44), a 5thseed in the pole vault (9-0), as well as a part of the 9thseed 4x400 relay team (4:30.82). Makena has made some nice improvements in her hurdles and pole vault since last season. She really has an opportunity to reach the podium in both events this year. Katelynn Osborn is a 17thseed in the 100 hurdles (19.74). Katelynn has made some nice improvements as the season has progressed and has a great opportunity to compete in the district meet as a freshman. Leah Miller is a 3rdseed in the high jump (5-3), a 15thseed in the long jump (15-0.50), a 7thseed in the triple jump (33-10) and part of the 9thseed 4x400 relay team (4:30.82). Leah has cleared the state qualifying standard in the high jump at a total of 4 meets this season. She was the district champion in the high jump in her sophomore season. Cassidy Reed is a 7thseed in the high jump (4-10). Last year Cassidy tied 2ndoverall in the high jump to qualify for the state championships. She has had great consistency this season and knows how to come on strong at the end of the season. Shawnelle Miller is a 16thseed in the discus (97-0). Shawnelle was a provisional qualifier in the discus last year, so it was nice to see her hit the automatic mark in her final high school season. Taegan Ludwig is a 14thseed in the javelin (104-1), and a 12thseed in the shot put (31-5). Taegan was a provisional qualifier in both the shot put and javelin last year at districts. It was really nice to have her hit the automatic mark in javelin this year. Mackenzie Martin is a 14thseed in the shot put (30-0.50). Mackenzie has made some nice improvements in the shot put since the Lock Haven Classic meet. This is going to be a great opportunity for her. With all of the talented athletes scheduled to compete the meet looks to be quite an exciting day for our girls to prove their capabilities. Punxsy Results:

Tonight we were without some of our top girls but those that were there had some really nice performances. For some of the other girls who will not be moving on to districts next week I feel that they ended their seasons with some nicely. In this same meet a year ago Sammy threw her school record mark of 40-0 in the shot put. Today she had some real nice throws in the shot and surpassed her previous school record mark of 136-8 in the discus to throw 138-10. Sammy also had a really nice jump in the triple jump. Shawnelle Miller threw an all-time personal best by over four feet in the discus to hit the automatic qualifier for next week’s district meet. Kate Horner had an outstanding 400 race and doubled back in the 800 quite well. She controlled the 400 the entire way running very strong in the final meters. Her races just keep getting better. I was impressed to see her come back from short rest to race well in the 800. I am really excited to see what she is able to do at districts. Elyse White ran two strong races in the 400 and 800 with short rest. Elyse ran close to her personal best in the 400 and came back to run aggressively in the 800. Makena Nesbitt ran a good 100 hurdle race and had some consistency at the pole vault. Mady Matthews ran a personal best time in the 300 hurdles. Cassidy Reed and Katelyn Griebel looked good in the high jump and Katelyn did a nice job in the hurdles. I am hoping we can rest up and get some of our girls feeling 100 percent going into next week so they can bring their best for districts. **Entries for Districts occurs this weekend, by Sunday we will know other than those who have made the qualifying standards who was close enough to the standards to make districts provisionally. **Districts will be held next Friday at Brookville Complete Results:

The weather was next to perfect until the storm rolled in just as the 300 hurdles were getting ready to take place. Its tough to see some of our girls not have an opportunity to compete in a such a great meet but with the weather there’s not a whole lot you can do. In the Field: Sammy Dyson put together some nice throws in the shot put and discus placing well against the field. Taegan Ludwig had a nice throw close to her best in the javelin. In the Jumps: Leah Miller(High Jump), Cassidy Reed(High Jump) and Makena Nesbitt(Pole Vault) each had some more consistent jumps. On the track: Kate Horner and Olivia Roberts both came back from personal best splits in the relay to place well individually. Kate is looking stronger than a year ago and did a great job against a strong field in the 400. Olivia ran very aggressively in the 1600 improving her previous best by 8 seconds. 4x800---Alyse Whitman, Elyse White, Kate Horner, Olivia Roberts The girls all ran their best splits on the season and improved their time from last week by almost 17 seconds. With the week ahead being our final week of meets before districts I am hopeful we can find some chances to qualify those who are close to the automatic standard for districts and begin to do the things necessary to bring our best for the district championships on the 18th. Punxsy travels Tuesday to Bradford to compete in their final dual meet of the season before sending some of the girls Thursday to Redbank Valley for a last chance invitational to qualify districts.
In the Field: Sam Dyson, Mackenzie Martin and Taegan Ludwig (shot put) each had some nice throws, with Taegan’s throw being only one inch off of the automatic district qualifier. Kristin Lowmaster threw for a personal best in the javelin. In the Jumps: Cassidy Reed and Katelyn Griebel both had good days at the high jump with Cassidy hitting the automatic district qualifying mark and Katelyn again improving by another inch. On the track: 4x800---Alyse Whitman, Elyse White, Kate Horner, Olivia Roberts The girls did a great job of pushing themselves to a nice time finishing well ahead of the second place team. Katelyn Griebel and Makena Nesbitt both ran seasonal bests in the 300 hurdles, while Katelyn also improved her best in the 100 hurdles. Kate Horner and Elyse White ran well individually in the 400 and 200. After a big invitational this past Saturday at Lock Haven where we saw some great marks and times, I was happy to see some of the girls come out and work as hard as they did. It was also nice to see several of the girls hit some personal bests. We went up against two very good teams today in Hollidaysburg and Indiana and many of our girls did a great job of stepping up and competing well. I’m really looking forward to seeing with a few days rest what these girls can do Friday at the West Central Coaches Meet. Punxsy travels Tuesday to Indiana to compete in a tri-meet against Indiana and Hollidaysburg before sending some of the girls Friday to Altoona to compete in the West Central Coaches Meet. ECC Dual Meet Results 4/24/2018
It was nice to finally have the opportunity to host a home dual meet to give the girls an opportunity to compete in front of their friends and family. It would have been better to have a nicer day weather-wise but the girls for the most part came out and did a great job of competing against a well-coached team in Elk County Catholic. Our seniors—Paige Beatty, Midori Bridges, Hayley Dilts, Kaitlin Doverspike, Sammy Dyson, Isabel Hackenberry, Sophia Lambiotte, Kristin Lowmaster, Leah Miller, Shawnelle Miller, Shawnelle Miller, Elyse White and Alyse Whitman are a wonderful group of girls that are doing a nice job of leading the underclass girls. Myself and the other coaches truly appreciate their efforts over their years on the team. In the Field: Sam Dyson and Shawnelle Miller had solid throws in the discus. With Miller inching closer to the district qualifying mark. Mackenzie Martin (shot put) and Kaitlynn Osborn (javelin) each threw for personal bests. In the Jumps: Leah Miller had another real strong showing at high jump clearing 5-2. Her consistency and confidence against tough competition are impressive. Katelyn Griebel (high jump), Cassidy Reed (triple jump and high jump) and Elyse White (long jump) came through with some solid jumps to help the team with scoring. Makena Nesbitt matched her personal best in the pole vault and had some good vaults at 9-6. On the track: Makena Nesbitt looked great in the 100 hurdles against ECC’s Newton who is one of the top hurdlers/jumpers in the district. Mady Matthews ran two strong hurdle races achieving personal bests in both the 100 and 300 hurdles. Katelyn Griebel improved her time in the 100 hurdles and ran very close to her best in the 300 hurdles. Kate Horner had a strong open 400 and 200 race. Elyse White had a solid performance in the open 800, running close to her all-time best. Gabby Franklin and Isabel Hackenberry did a nice job working together to help the team in scoring in the 3200. 4x800---Alyse Whitman, Elyse White, Kate Horner, Olivia Roberts Each girl ran very aggressively and posted some nice splits. Kate, Elyse, and Olivia each improved their times from previous meets and Alyse did a nice job of running a strong split despite battling a cold. 4x400—Makena Nesbitt, Kate Horner, Elyse White, Olivia Roberts Each girl did a nice job of staying competitive with ECC, while Elyse stepped up with a much faster split than last week and Olivia ran a fantastic split in her first opportunity of running the relay. Despite the loss I am pleased with everyone’s efforts today and happy with the direction that we are heading in. Everyone seems ready to start making the push towards some more district qualifying marks. Punxsy sends Sammy Dyson to compete at the Penn Relays on Thursday, while the rest of the squad will be back in action on Saturday in Lock Haven at the High School Classic. Punxsy Results from Butler:

Sammy had some strong consistent throws in the shot put. It was nice to see her take first in a bigger invitational. Leah did a great job of staying focused throughout the event. She matched her best jump from Tuesday’s dual meet and was able to even clear 5-5 despite having the bar fall off the standard as she got off the mat. Makena had some good jumps at the pole vault just missing the podium by one place. The 4x800 relay ran some decent splits finishing with a time that equaled their time from the Brookville Invitational despite being disqualified for dropping the baton in the final exchange. It was nice to see some of the girls rise to the opportunity to compete in such a high caliber meet, and I am hoping that it motivates the rest to push themselves harder to be more competitive over the next few weeks. Punxsy Results from Kane: Javelin: Taegan Ludwig 104-1 (6th), Kristin Lowmaster 72-2 (18th) Shot Put: Sammy Dyson 39-4.5 (1st), Taegan Ludwig 29-4 (8th) Discus: Sammy Dyson 127-4 (1st), Shawnelle Miller NM Long Jump: Elyse White 13-11.75 (8th), Kaitlin Doverspike 13-4.5 (11th) Triple Jump: Leah Miller 32-5 (5th), Kaitlin Doverspike 28-11.5 (18th) Pole Vault: Makena Nesbitt 8-0 (3rd) High Jump: Leah Miller 4-11 (2nd), Cassidy Reed 4-7 (6th) 100 Meter Hurdles: Mady Matthews 20.80 (13th) 300 Meter Hurdles: Makena Nesbitt 56.57 (9th), Mady Matthews 59.86 (11th) 100 Meter Dash: Mady Matthews 15.65 (17th) 200 Meter Dash: Kate Horner 29.08 (7th), Katelynn Osborn 34.07 (21st) 400 Meter Dash: Kate Horner 1:04.32 (4th), Kaitlin Doverspike 1:10.30 (12th) 800 Meter Run: Alyse Whitman 2:43.82 (10th), Elyse White 2:47.69 (12th) 1600 Meter Run: Alyse Whitman 6:22.83 (9th), Riley Franklin 6:32.39 (11th) 3200 Meter Run: Gabrielle Franklin 14:09.02 (7th), Isabel Hackenberry 14:27.91 (9th) 4x400 Meter Relay: Nesbitt, Horner, White, Whitman 4:41.12 (7th) Kane Invitational **7thout of 12 teams overall with a total of 40.5 points, first place team was Bradford with a total of 107 points **Awards to 6 individuals (given to top 6 in each event) In the Throws: Taegan Ludwig threw for two of her best ever throws with her best being a district 9 qualifier. It was nice to see her make the automatic mark this year, as she qualified for districts provisional in the javelin last year. Now she has the opportunity to really focus on staying consistent and working on a few things to improve upon her distance leading up to districts. Sammy Dyson rebounded in her discus from Friday night to throw close to her best, while also hitting with in inches of her best in the shot put. Kristin Lowmaster threw for a personal best in the Javelin. In the Jumps: Leah Miller finished off a tough week in the jumps with soild jumps in the high jump and triple jump. She is a tough competitor and has had a great week of meets. Cassidy Reed (high jump) and Makena Nesbitt (pole vault) continue to compete with a great attitude and are consistently hitting marks above where they were a year ago. On the Track: Kate Horner had two solid individual races in the 400 and 200. She was extremely aggressive in the first 300 meters of her 400, and with some more strength should be able to drop her time significantly. Mady Matthews ran personal bests in both the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles, while Gabby Franklin ran a seasonal best in the 3200. With the weather seeming to break I am hoping we can make the push to get some more of the girls that are close to the automatic qualifying standards to reach those marks. We have some great opportunities to improve where we stand individually and in the relays in the next few weeks and I look forward to seeing the girls rise to the challenge. Punxsy Girls will next host Elk County Cathlic on Tuesday, which will also serve as Senior Recognition night before sending Sammy Dyson on Thursday to The Penn Relays to compete in the High School Discus Championships and the rest of the team will compete on Saturday in Lock Haven at the Lock Haven Classic.
Dubois is a young but talented and well coached team. We definitely do not have the depth like Dubois; however, our girls’ focus was on improvements and with that came some good performances. I was really pleased with the majority of the girl’s efforts out there today. It was nice to see us come away with 10 first place finishes on the day. We definitely have a few strong leaders spread throughout the events. I am hoping with warmer weather and more opportunities that more girls can step up to the challenge of being more competitive in the dual meets and strive for district qualifying marks. In the Field: Sam Dyson bested her competition by a good distance in both of her throws despite not being near her best in each. Taegan Ludwig had another consistent throw in the Javelin. In the Jumps: Leah Miller did a great job in the High Jump and Triple Jump. She jumped her best ever in the High Jump and had some really nice attempts at 5-5. Today was a great confidence boost for her and she is extremely motivated to continue improving. Midori Bridges, Cassidy Reed and Katelyn Griebel also had some solid jumps at the High Jump and are looking in better form than a year ago. Cassidy also had another nice and consistent triple jump. Kaitlin Doverspike (Long Jump) had a personal best in the long jump. Makena Nesbitt matched a great effort in the pole vault from Satudays invitational to hit the qualifying standard again. On the track: Kate Horner improved her 400 time from Saturday and raced strongly in the 200 and 4x400. Olivia Roberts raced a strong last lap of her 1600 race to improve her personal best by 7 seconds. Alyse Whitman did a nice job of racing to three good performances today. Makena Nesbitt hurdled well today racing to a personal best. Isabel Hackenberry made big improvements in the second half of her race to lower her time by over a minute from Saturday. Katelyn Griebel (300 Hurdles) and Mady Matthews (100 dash) both achieved personal bests. Complete Results: 4x800 relay: Dubois (Marchioni,Hoover,Stainbrook,Usaitis) 10:53.2 100 hurdles: 1.
